Róisín Dubh

Our Moz resumed touring again this year with a wonderful show in Killarney on The Emerald Isle. The place was packed with adoring Morrissey fans. They were rewarded with a fantastic concert by Mozza. I checked out some of the videos from the show. Our Moz is sounding marvelous. I am amazed, as he has aged, his voice continues to get better. He started the show with "We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful" and finished with a rousing "Irish Blood, English Heart". In between he sang songs from throughout his career from The Smiths to his album in waiting "Bonfire Of Teenagers".

Our Moz took a slight tumble during "Irish Blood" but got up saying "I'm Alive, I'm Alive". I can relate to Mozza, as two weeks ago I tripped and fell backing up to get a ball while I was playing tennis. I put my left arm out to catch myself and sprained my wrist. No damage done. It was very sore but  I continued to play. Still sore now but I'll live. And I'm sure Our Moz is fine as he prepares for his shows in the UK.

Last night was also Farm Aid 2022. I've always liked Farm Aid. It supports family farmers as opposed to the large corporate agri-business farms. Family Farms are disappearing at an alarming rate from the American landscape. I was watching some of the concert while viewing Mozza clips from Killarney. The reason I mention it is because how good Morrissey's voice sounds. John Mellencamp did a set and I was shocked how poorly he sounded. He is 70 years old, maybe he had a cold and he was never known as a virtuoso singer, I was just surprised at how bad he sounded.

One other note from Farm Aid was the incredible Willie Nelson is still out there and going strong. Of course his voice is hoarse and sometimes is hard to hear. I am amazed at how well he can play his guitar. Willie is now 89.  In that vein, we can hope that Our Moz will continue to thrill his audiences for many years to come.

It Was?

But now the days are short

I'm in the autumn of the year

Jacky's Only Happy

                                                                But I'm only

                                                               In the outskirts
                                                              And in the fringes
                                                                 On the edge
                                                              And off the avenue

Time The Avenger

 Time Long Past

Like the ghost of a dear friend dead
Is Time long past.
A tone which is now forever fled,
A hope which is now forever past,
A love so sweet it could not last,
Was Time long past.

There were sweet dreams in the night
Of Time long past:
And, was it sadness or delight,
Each day a shadow onward cast
Which made us wish it yet might last—
That Time long past.

There is regret, almost remorse,
For Time long past.
'Tis like a child's belovèd corse
A father watches, till at last
Beauty is like remembrance, cast
From Time long past.

                                                                     Everything's on loan here.
