Our Moz completed his smashingly successful 7 concert residency on Broadway on Saturday May 11.  Those who were fortunate to attend his shows were treated to a delightful evening of his amazing music and artistry. I believe I read he sang a total of 37 different songs during the residency. The beautiful Lunt-Fontanne Theatre was definitely the perfect venue to experience Morrissey at his finest. Bravo to the band, all of his crew and to the theatre staff. And lastly, congratulations to Our Moz on his fabulous singing, presentation, performances and choice of songs. They were certainly concerts for the ages.

Nights On Broadway

Our Moz is in the midst of his seven night residency on Broadway and as the Bee Gees song says so well, he is:  "Singin' them love songs, singin' them straight-to-the-heart songs, singin' them sweet sounds to that crazy, crazy town". He started his latest tour with three wonderful concerts in Canada. Now he is thrilling his fans at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater in New York City. The set lists are amazing. He is switching songs every night from his prodigious back catalogue and a song from California Son, his new album.

Morrissey has included some very pleasant surprises for the patrons this tour, including:  "The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get", "Girl Afraid", "Is It Really So Strange?", "Something Is Squeezing My Skull", "Sunny",  "Seasick, Yet Still Docked", "That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore", Trouble Loves Me".

Who knows what is yet to come, as he has 4 more "Nights On Broadway". The band is sounding better than ever this tour, I would imagine the acoustics are excellent in the Lunt-Fontanne.

After watching some clips from the concerts I am truly amazed and impressed how magnificent Morrissey's voice sounds. He is aging like a fine wine. I must say he is at the top of his game and Broadway is perfect for his flair for the dramatic. Those attending the concerts are truly lucky they are seeing an iconic artist delivering art.

Our Moz commands the stage like no other. The Drifters song "On Broadway" certainly applies for Morrissey on Broadway:  "They say the neon lights are bright on Broadway, They say there's always magic in the air."

No star shines brighter than Our Moz and there's always magic in the air at his concerts.

In some mundane triviality that no one cares about, I sit here as the rain falls hard on a humdrum town, trying not to let it drag me down. I swear it rains every day here. We have had to play tennis indoors the last six Fridays in a row and not surprisingly the forecast calls for rain this Friday. The dreariness never goes away here and I think, little man, what now? The future is uncertain and the past begins to blur but one thing is certain, I know very well how I got my name.

I won't forget the songs that made me smile or made me cry.

Will I ever get to play tennis outside again? In the meantime, the passing of time leaves empty lives waiting to be filled.

Power To The People

Bernie Sanders launched his 2020 Presidential candidacy to an adoring crowd of about 13,000 people in Brooklyn, New York. It was a homecoming of sorts for Bernie. He grew up with his family in a small apartment in Brooklyn. They were a lower middle class family where money was always difficult to come by. His Dad and Mom were both immigrants to this country. His Dad barely made it out of Poland before Hitler invaded. He surely would have been sent to concentration camp and died as he was Jewish. Bernie does not talk about his modest beginnings enough. He should, as opposed to the pampered silver spoon life of the would be dictator in the White House.

I really don't care much for politicians. Most of them are phony, charlatans working the system for their own benefit or for that of the highest bidder. Bernie Sanders is one of the few authentic people in the the abysmal world of politics and government. He has never wavered and has been remarkably consistent in his message and mission for social, economic and racial justice for all. When he was in Chicago for college he was arrested protesting the horrid conditions for blacks in public housing. He marched and participated in the civil rights movement. He was a participant in Martin Luther King's famous march on Washington and many others. This man has fought his entire career for those with less, black, white, Latino, Asian, American Indian. Contrast this with Trump and his fathers known discrimination in their buildings against housing people of color.

I wasn't sure if I was going to really get involved much in the 2020 election. There has been no doubt in my mind the disgusting threat to this country must be removed from office. I would vote for any of the Democratic candidates in 2020. The question is whether I would invest any of my time and money in helping a campaign. Now that Bernie is in the running for sure I feel I must do something to help his candidacy. I basically agree with him on every issue he addresses. He is the real deal as far as authenticity. The damage that Trump has done to this nation is severe. Bernie Sanders is the best candidate that can start the pendulum swinging in the other direction.

We Is Back In Town

Yes, he is back in town and quite a dazzling affair it was. Our Moz played his first concert on this tour at The Majestic Ventura Theater in Ventura, California. He is a California Son you know. I have been extremely saddened by the shootings this past Saturday at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh. Watching some of the video clips from the concert last night has lifted my spirits. Moz sounds fantastic. Some things get better with age, his voice is aging like a fine wine. I am so overwhelmed by the new setlist. There are some shimmering gems here I absolutely adore. "Hairdresser On Fire", "Break Up The Family", "Dial a Cliché were played. I am shocked and pleased all at the same time.  I love these three songs so much. Being strange, I thoroughly enjoyed "Is It Really So Strange?".

It was also wonderful to hear "William" and "Something Is Squeezing". Some soothing light, in what has been a very dark time. Our Moz will be in Los Angeles tonight with Joan Jett at The Microsoft Theater. The fans there are in for a very delectable treat.

It was a very nice touch for Our Moz to have Rose Mallinger's name added to the marquis at The Ventura to honor her as one of the victims of the horrible massacre in Pittsburgh. Thank you again for remembering her.
